Large companies rarely suffer from a shortage of ideas – what they lack is a mechanism that takes an idea all the way to a working product. At MODUS X, the technology company of DTEK Group, that mechanism is Tech X Community – an internal community where engineers, analysts and business people turn challenges into technology solutions together.
This is neither an interest club nor a one-off initiative. Tech X Community is a platform for cross-functional collaboration and a kind of startup incubator, where employees generate ideas and see them through to a result together. And what matters most for the business – there's a systematic process behind it, not isolated experiments.
Tech X Community is a family of professional communities inside MODUS X, launched within DTEK Group. It includes streams such as AI Community and ML Community – spaces where teams share experience, develop innovative thinking, scale technology practices and engage more deeply with R&D and AI/ML.
The goal is both simple and ambitious: to build a sustainable internal hub of technical leadership, speed up the adoption of AI/ML solutions in the business, and grow internal demand for innovation. In this model, MODUS X acts as the driver of transformation for the entire DTEK Group.
The most valuable thing about Tech X Community isn't the ideas themselves – it's the pipeline that turns them into products. The team gathered 138 real business challenges from across DTEK Group's businesses, filtered them by feasibility and built a single delivery process: ideation → validation → POC → MVP → scaling.
Every initiative goes through a stage-gate model: a solution only moves forward once it has proven its value. The company handles some tasks in-house and others through open innovation, bringing in external technology partners.
This flow is formalised by the AI-Ideas & Challenges Bank. Requests feed into it from internal AI events (conferences, open-door days, solution showcases, workshops), from vendors and startups, from training formats and from the community itself. Then comes the funnel: screening, prioritisation, validation. At the output, ideas are sorted into three streams: personal productivity, business-process improvement and new business models.
The community's strength lies in bringing different people together. Internally, these are cross-functional teams: engineers and analysts alongside business people, stream curators, mentors and ambassadors. Externally, MODUS X engages invited experts, IT partners and innovation hubs (for example, Unit.City).
A separate layer is Talentverse X, an ecosystem for attracting and developing talent through partnerships. It brings together 10 global technology companies (including Microsoft, SAP, Creatio and IBM), 4 universities (KPI, NAU, KNEU, DPI) and international and industry organisations – from the UN Global Compact to IT Ukraine, Lviv IT Cluster and the Diia City Union.
The "challenge → solution" principle is best illustrated by Hack X – an online hackathon that MODUS X ran together with DTEK and partner DEV Challenge on real energy-sector business cases. Participants worked on the streams Smart AI Support Desk, AI Blackout Optimizer, AI Document Search and AI-Geo Copilot.
The scale: 50 external teams and over 100 participants, supported by 15+ experts from MODUS X and DTEK and more than 10 hours of mentoring sessions. The result – 11 ready MVP solutions, the most promising of which are selected for pilots, refined and tested in real conditions.
This is the answer to why a business needs a community: it turns the abstract "search for innovation" into concrete prototypes you can actually implement.
Tech X Community isn't an internal "toy" – it's a mechanism that delivers value outward. Within the broader AI programme QUANTUM, MODUS X and DTEK's businesses identified over 120 AI initiatives and selected the top 20 for implementation. Through the community and R&D, the company tests hypotheses systematically: in just six months the team worked through 77 product initiatives, and as of 2026 more than 20 active pilots are underway.
For clients, this means one thing: MODUS X doesn't arrive with a "ready-made box", but with a proven mechanism that knows how to hear real business challenges and take a solution from idea to product.
Innovation in a large company isn't about a stroke of genius – it's about a system that works every day. Tech X Community gives MODUS X exactly that system: a way to gather business challenges, filter them, take the best ones to POC and MVP, and scale what works.
And while most talk about artificial intelligence as a trend, MODUS X turns it into working products for the energy sector and corporate governance – together with its community, vendors, startups and universities.
