How MODUS X’s gaming initiative grew into a community with its own chats, held its first CS2 tournament with champions — and made its debut at the DTEK Grids corporate tournament, winning bronze right away among 76 players.
Cyber Games X started as an experiment — an internal MODUS X gaming community open to anyone who enjoys playing, competing, and sharing gaming experience. The idea did not come from the top down, but from the employees themselves: we ran a survey to find out which games the team enjoyed most. The answers shaped the community’s first directions:
“We were not planning to do anything big from day one — we just wanted to create a place where people would feel comfortable playing together. But very quickly it became clear that this was needed by far more colleagues. Teams appeared, regular games started, and our own atmosphere took shape,” says Oleksii Shumeiko, leader of MODUS X’s esports community.
Very quickly, Cyber Games X grew from a chat into a real community. Separate Telegram chats were created for each game — this is where the daily life of the community takes place. Here, it is easy to recognize a colleague from another department not by tasks, but by a nickname, and this interaction does not end after the game — it carries over into work. In the chats, participants:
The community wanted more — a real competition. After voting for the discipline, Counter-Strike 2 was chosen, and the community held its first tournament, “CS2 — Cyber Games X: The Game Begins.” Four teams competed for the title in a double-elimination format, with Best of 3 matches on the Challengermode platform.
The tournament ran a little longer than planned due to power outages, but the teams brought it all the way to the final. The first season was won by Headshotus X.
Soon after, Cyber Games X went beyond the company. The MODUS X team “Not Found” played for the first time in the DTEK Grids corporate Counter-Strike tournament — and in its debut season, immediately made it onto the podium. The third season of the tournament (April 28–May 31) went beyond a single business unit for the first time: together with colleagues from DTEK Grids’ Distribution System Operators, the competition grew to a record 15 teams and 76 participants. The matches were played online on Challengermode and streamed on Twitch in a double-elimination format; 15 teams played 30 matches, and the final ended in a tense 2:1 scoreline. The MODUS X team took bronze.
“Shared competitions with colleagues from DTEK Grids are about a culture of interaction between businesses”
“Competing together with colleagues from DTEK Grids is about building a culture of interaction between businesses. The format is accessible, requires no travel, but strengthens teamwork, decision-making speed, and simply gives energy. We at MODUS X want to continue growing this community and involving even more colleagues,” says Oleksii Shumeiko, leader of MODUS X’s esports community.
From an internal chat to bronze at an intercompany tournament — Cyber Games X has covered this path in just a few months. More tournaments, new disciplines, and even more teams lie ahead. Because Cyber Games X is about more than games: it is about interaction, team spirit, and new forms of informal communication at MODUS X.
Let’s keep building the gaming community together!
