With the continuous growth of information volumes and increasing cybersecurity threats, it became evident that the existing data backup and recovery system did not meet the company's modern requirements or current cyber challenges. Our IT specialists conducted a thorough audit of potential solutions, including analyzing the experiences of major industry players, and concluded that the system needed modernization.

When selecting the system, the MODUS X team focused on key factors:

• Reliability: How effectively could the new system protect data from failures and attacks? Would it ensure uninterrupted operation even in the event of the loss of the primary data center (DC) location?

1. Supporting the existing customer infrastructure and IT and business system components:
   Veritas NetBackup addressed the need for backup and recovery of all critical data, including backups of S4Hana and Microsoft SQL. This ensured not only the protection of vital data but also the uninterrupted operation of all subsystems. The new system replaced several previous solutions that no longer met reliability and performance requirements, such as Veritas BackupExec, HPE Data Protector, Azure Backup, and AWS Backup.
2. Implementation duration and complexity:
   The implementation process took just over three months and involved specialists from DTEK's IT department, as well as the Veritas team and its partner. Key efforts included configuration, data migration, backup verification, and testing at various stages.
3. Optimizing backup time:
   One of the significant advantages of the system was reducing backup time to 48 hours, even with annual data volume growth of 20%. For instance, the backup of the MS Exchange DAG database (15 TB) was reduced from ___ to ___ (days/hours), and the MS Windows FileServer (60 TB) backup time was reduced from ___ to ___ (days/hours).
4. System scalability:
   Considering the company's growing needs, it was crucial to select a scalable system. Veritas NetBackup demonstrated its ability to scale on both on-premises servers and cloud environments, ensuring confidence in managing future data volume increases.
