The MODUS X team took part in Tech360, an event organized by IT Ukraine Association — Ukraine’s largest IT association, bringing together key players in the technology market.
Our R&D & Innovation Lead, Andrii Bondar, joined the panel discussion “Investing in Technology: Formats, Conditions, and Partnerships for the Industry of the Future,” where he presented DTEK Group’s approach to implementing artificial intelligence through the QUANTUM program.
During his speech, he spoke about the evolution of AI adoption — from pilot projects with startups to the systemic transformation of business. In particular, even before the full-scale invasion, DTEK had implemented AI-based solutions for inspecting power grids using drones, as well as computer vision solutions to monitor compliance with safety standards at facilities.
These initiatives were delivered through an open innovation model: the company identified technology partners, launched pilot projects, and scaled solutions once their effectiveness had been proven.
Today, this approach has evolved into a systematic AI innovation process. The team collected 138 business challenges across different areas, prioritized them, and built a unified implementation process — from ideation and validation to POC, MVP, and further scaling.
“We collected 138 challenges from our businesses, filtered them based on feasibility, assessed what we could develop in-house and what required external solutions. Now we move through them as a systematic process: ideation, validation, POC, MVP, and then scaling. These are no longer isolated experiments — this is a mechanism that operates continuously,” said Andrii Bondar.
Particular attention in the speech was given to the shift in innovation strategy: while the focus previously was on integrating external solutions, today the emphasis is on solving internal business challenges and creating value for customers.
Andrii also highlighted the potential of AI in the energy sector, where the product itself has a digital dimension, opening new opportunities for service development and customer experience transformation.
At the same time, the speed of technological development is creating new challenges for businesses — even short-term planning in AI is becoming difficult due to constant change.
“We still cannot fully understand what the world will look like in three years. We are only beginning to make sense of technologies that emerged a few months ago — and they have already changed. That is why the key today is to move very quickly and continuously test new approaches,” he added.
Together with Andrii Bondar, the panel discussion also featured:
The discussion was moderated by Oleksii Uros — Vice President for Legal Affairs at IT Ukraine Association, Business Development Director at Asters, and Co-founder of Unicorn Capital.
During the discussion, participants focused on practical approaches to technology investment, the role of partnerships between business and government, and innovation implementation in large organizations.
