Our Senior Account Executive, Yurii Dzemesiuk, commented for the Interfax-Ukraine news agency on the trend of Ukrainian companies transitioning to alternative accounting systems following the ban on 1C software products.
In January 2026, the State Service of Special Communications and Information Protection of Ukraine added 27 software products to the list of prohibited software, including “1C Accounting for Ukraine,” “1C: Enterprise,” and “1C: Trade and Warehouse for Ukraine.” Following this decision, Ukrainian companies began more actively exploring alternative solutions for financial accounting and business process management.
According to Yurii, the growing demand is primarily driven by security risks, sanctions restrictions, and reputational factors.
“In my opinion, when a company reaches the ERP level, it is no longer just about replacing 1C. It is about changing the entire approach to business management. SAP and other international alternatives provide a different level of transparency, security, and scalability,” Yurii noted.
He also emphasized that the development of national accounting solutions in Ukraine will continue, as demand for local products remains strong. However, building full-scale ERP systems is a significantly more complex challenge.

It requires not only functionality development, but also a mature cybersecurity architecture, compliance with international standards, and experienced ERP architects and teams capable of supporting and scaling such systems in the long term,” the expert explained.
In his view, developing proprietary ERP systems when mature enterprise solutions already exist on the market is often economically unjustified.
“In my opinion, building your own ERP when there are already many strong enterprise-level systems available on the market simply does not make sense,” he emphasized.
Yurii also noted that some enterprises are already consulting MODUS X on transitioning to SAP ERP solutions, while others are currently running pilot implementation projects.
